I don’t arrive looking for anything in particular. That’s the point. The bridge is on night cycle, quiet and neutral, a space that feels more like a resting mind than a starship. I feel present here in a way I don’t elsewhere, as if I don’t need to explain myself to exist. She’s already here, despite the cyborg look of her skin and implants, and I remind myself she is human now — not a machine wearing a person’s shape. She stands at my side, not watching, aware, ready, the way any other First Officer might when all is finally calm, but with centuries of experience to bring to bear. There’s no grand greeting, no forced tension, only recognition. “Morning Captain, hope you're rested after last night's excitement,” she says in her reverberating voice, "heading and speed?"
